Happy Women's History Month!

Updated: Oct 25, 2023

Black women history month

Being a black WOMAN-owned business is so amazing! Women are a minority in the business world. This is why I love what I do. I get to be a representation for other black girls and women while making history! I have come in contact with so many amazing women in person and online! The community of women-owned business owners is truly incredible! I want to share with you some women-owned businesses that I love!

This all started with The Boss Network. In 2022, I applied for the Boss Impact Fund (which is now accepting applications for 2023). Sometime in May or April, I found out that I was selected with 34 other black women to receive the $10,000 grant for our businesses! After being in business for two years, it was beautiful to know that someone had faith in my small business and our vision and wanted to see us succeed! So thank you to Cameka Smith! One of my Boss sisters I shopped with is Ja'Nique the owner of Sconnet LLC. Her Sconnet (scarf and bonnet) is an essential for black girls! I literally wear my Sconnet every night and it's so convenient!

From here I started to make bonds with other people from the Boss Network and one day on Instagram someone posted @healthyandwell.la. I wanted to be surrounded by more people in the health and wellness community, so I submitted to volunteer to help with one or two of her events. Naomi is such a sweet woman! Her yoga spaces are very diverse. The first time I attended her

class, I was nervous since this was the second time, I'd done yoga in my life! My first experience was in 2015 in college and it was HORRIBLE. I didn't know if we were in yoga or Pilates! But Naomi's class is perfect for all levels. Also, to add it's a judgment-free zone! No one is laughing at you, no one is watching you. Everyone is very uplifting in her space. PLUS, she plays has versus events where she will play music like Meg Thee Stallion vs Latto, Lauryn Hill vs D'Angelo, T.I. vs Lil Wayne, Bad Bunny vs J Balvin and more! Check her website out!

After this pop-up with Health+Well, I realized I could do this more often! This month I did my first pop-up market! There I was struggling to put my tent together. I asked this cool girl with cute bat-shaped makeup on if she could help me with my tent! After talking, she told me she is a traveler and a little about her life! She makes super cute crotchet tops, hats, and mushrooms! But long story short I made a friend at the pop-up, @alex_inkdeath.

Lastly, we can't forget my real-life friends, family, and others that are women-owned businesses, who have also supported me. Here is a little list of a few women to check out!

  1. Lotus Mystic Haven - Naturopathic Doctor, Intuitive Reader, & Handcrafted Holistic Products

  2. NaN Bath & Body - Handcrafted Artisan Soap

  3. trackandfeel.co - Mental Health Advocate

  4. Sisternomics - Uplifting and Informative Podcast

  5. Nuture Journee - Holistic Healing Self Care
