Happy Memorial Day! Today is the day we honor those who sacrificed themselves for this country. So with that we get an extra day added to our weekend to honor their lives.
But you can't forget about yourself! Self care is something that was always hard for me because I am a workaholic! After going through therapy, my therapist helped me realize that self care isn't just taking yourself out for lunch or dinner it's much more than that. Here I'm going to share with you 10 ways to try to implement self care into daily rituals!
1. Take a nature walk: Spend some time outsideeeeee, breathe in fresh air, and enjoy the beauty and calming sounds of nature. Walking can actually help clear your mind and reduce stress.
2. Practice mindfulness or meditation: Set aside time for quiet reflection, focus on your breath, and allow yourself to be present in the moment. Mindfulness can help reduce anxiety and increase overall well-being.
3. Treat yourself to a spa day at home: Take a relaxing bath, put on a good ole face mask, or give yourself a soothing massage. Pamper your body and give yourself some much-needed relaxation.
4. Get creative babe: Paint, draw, write, or play a musical instrument. Engaging in creative pursuits can be therapeutic and provide an outlet for self-expression.
5. Disconnect from technology: Take a break from screens and spend time doing things that don't involve electronic devices. Read a book, have a conversation with a loved one, or engage in a hobby that brings you joy.
6. Practice yoga or gentle stretching: Stretching exercises can help relieve tension in your muscles and promote relaxation. Yoga combines stretching, breathing, and mindfulness to enhance both physical and mental well-being.
7. Enjoy a healthy meal: Cook or prepare a nutritious and delicious meal for yourself. Nourish your body with wholesome ingredients and savor the flavors.
8. Engage in a favorite hobby. Whether it's dancing around the house, playing a video game, or whatever you genuinely enjoy. Or my personal favorite, getting on my mothers nerves LOL!
9. Connect with loved ones: Reach out to friends or family members you haven't spoken to in a while. Whether that’s online or in person, but share laughter, and strengthen your social connections.
10. And last but not least my favorite! Get a good night's sleep: Prioritize sleep and create a relaxing bedtime routine. Ensure you have a comfortable sleep environment and allow yourself enough time to rest and rejuvenate.
I won't act like I'm perfect and slip back into my workaholic way. But I do try to at least set aside one day to do one of these things for myself 💞
